At the 2021 Dakar Rally held in Saudi Arabia from January 3 to 15, 2021, the Monster Energy Honda Team clinched a one-two finish and became overall champions for the second consecutive year. The team equipped all of its bikes with the HY battEliiy P series motorcycle starter batteries developed by ELIIY Power Co., Ltd. (Headquartered in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, Chairman and CEO: Hiroichi Yoshida.)
Taking place over 13 days, 12 stages and covering a total distance of over 7,000 km over desert and mountainous terrain, the Dakar Rally is known as "the world's toughest motor race." The machines and their parts require outstanding levels of quality, durability and reliability.
The HY Battery P Series was recognized for its compact size, light weight and outstanding safety, durability and reliability, features that confer an advantage in a tough motor race. As a result, for the second straight year the Monster Energy Honda Team equipped the batteries in all of its CRF450 RALLY works machines. The series has been used in Honda's mass-produced motorcycles since 2017, and is also sold to the general public as an aftermarket part.
Going forward, ELIIY Power will continue to develop and manufacture innovative products with the aim of becoming the de facto standard for motorcycle starter batteries.
